Technology Tips of the Week: Snap and Read and CoWriter! 

Recently our Special Education department purchased a school-wide site license for two very useful assistive technology tools called "Snap and Read" and "CoWriter". There may be students in your classes that either use these tools currently, or could benefit from using them! (There will be a workshop offered as one session on the Teacher Workshop day March 13th for these tools as well!)

Today I uploaded the following teachers to have access to both chrome extensions. If you see your name on the invitation list, then you can follow my instructions to try this out yourself! After you try it, you can add students to have access to the tools as well!

Teachers: You should see both chrome extensions when you are logged into Google Chrome located to the right of the "Omnibox" also known as the  search bar on the Google page. If you do not see these two chrome extensions, you can download them from the Chrome Web Store. 

After you click on the chrome extension, sign in with your school Google account. You should see my invitation and you can "accept" it. This is the same direction for BOTH extensions above. 

Snap & Read: Text to Speech (Web- Online articles, Docs, Gmail, etc.), Level Text, Outline with Citations, Templates for Outline

CoWriter: Speech to Text (online applications) and Word Prediction (uses theme vocabulary)

If you want to add students to be able to use either of these tools; 

• Go to "Educator Dashboard" https://educatordashboard.com (sign in)

• Choose the middle "Accommodate" option.

• Select either "Snap&Read" or "CoWriter" . 

• Choose "Add Students"

You can add your students by their email address OR you can give them a code (the code is only valid for about 5 days then you will need to get a new one if they have not signed up within that timeframe).
