Technology Tip of the Week:   New Updates in Google Classroom!                                  I hope you had a wonderful summer! I am excited to share some pretty big updates to Google Classroom! If you are just setting up your classes for this school year, then I would have you look back on the post on HOW TO ARCHIVE your Google Classes! You will want to make New classes so you have access to the new features. You can still "Reuse" posts from the Google Classrooms you archive!

When you create a new Google Classroom, you will see the tabs look different.

STREAM: This is where you can add class materials (no more "About" tab), post a discussion, and see a short overview of classwork.

CLASSWORK: This is the tab you use to post assignments. You will see the labels are now organized different in the classwork tab section. This will also show you scheduled posts greyed out under the label you attach the assignment to.

PEOPLE: Under this tab you will see the teacher (yourself, and any other collaborating teachers if you choose to add them), and your students. There is a class code here, but this is not where you can display the class code.

CLASS SETTINGS (WHEEL ICON): The class settings tab will allow you to change the name of the class, Display, Copy, Reset, or Disable the Class Code; control who can comment on the Stream (students can post and comment, students can only comment, teachers can only post and comment); and turn off or on Parent Summaries.

Please watch this great overview of the new Google Classroom features, created by John Sowash.
