I would like to share a neat chrome extension with you, called "Cast for Education". If you are using a Mac laptop (or PC laptop), you can connect it to your projector, then using the app on the laptop you can "Cast" or share you chromebook screen to project wirelessly from around your room.
This tool is especially handy if you have freshman or sophomores and you want them to share a presentation or share their screen with the class. Watch this short video explanation.
Tip of the Week: Cast for Education
I would like to share a neat chrome extension with you, called "Cast for Education". If you are using a Mac laptop (or PC laptop), you can connect it to your projector, then using the app on the laptop you can "Cast" or share you chromebook screen to project wirelessly from around your room.
This tool is especially handy if you have freshman or sophomores and you want them to share a presentation or share their screen with the class. Watch this short video explanation.
What do you need to do to set this up?
1- Download the Cast for Education Chrome Extension.
2- Open the extension on your Mac and walk through the set up.
- Write the "Receiver Name" (Example: Mrs. Blanc A225)
- Connect your Google Classroom students!
- Choose students "can request" or "can cast". I recommend "can request".
3- Plug in your Mac/PC to the projector.
TO CAST FROM YOUR CHROMEBOOK: (OR to have Students cast their chromebooks)
*Students DO NOT need to install the app (only the teacher)
4- On the chromebook while Chrome is open, click in the upper right corner (usually 3 dots, but could be an orange exclamation sign), then choose "CAST" (below the "print" option)
5- Choose your screen "what you named the Cast for Education app". You should see it when you choose to Cast.
6- The teacher will see the request to Cast from whoever is trying, and they can choose to "Accept" or "Deny" the cast.
7- Your chromebook screen is now projected wirelessly to the projector!
