Tip of the Week: Google Docs Word Count (Display while Typing!) In September of 2019, Google Docs added a feature that allows you to see the word count of a Google Doc WHILE you are typing. Previously, you would need to go "Tools- Word Count" and look back as you typed. Now, you select "Tools- Word Count- Display while counting" (see image below) and the count will show live as you type! 
After you turn on"Display word count while typing" you will see the icon shown below. I think this feature will be very helpful for students that are writing papers and college applications, etc. that have a word count requirement.
