Some people find it odd that prior to working as a Technology Coordinator, I was an Art Teacher for 14 years. Many people see Art and Technology as opposite (right and left brain) subjects. I disagree, however. Creativity is a skill that cannot be denied importance, especially for student's learning in the 21st Century. Creativity goes far beyond painting or drawing. It is a way of seeing, understanding, analyzing, comparing, and creating that leads to discovering new ideas, outside of the box solutions to problems, innovation, and creation. This technology tidbit hopefully will get you thinking about how you can add creative assignments and support creative learning, while integrating technology in your classes.

There is a big difference between "using technology" and "technology integration". In order to truly integrate technology in the classroom, the teacher must be willing to let go a little of controlling the lesson. Infusing technology into the classroom is allowing for mistakes, encouraging creativity, and higher order thinking skills. This infographic does a good job of defining the difference of using and integrating technology.
