Tip of the Week: Chrome Web Store- SAU16 apps for Students
Happy Tuesday! As we migrate to a fully 1:1 environment, there are factors that we need to take seriously when it comes to apps and extensions allowed for students.

A very important factor; previously HB1612 (House Bill 1612 relating to data security in New Hampshire schools), now NH RSA 189:66

Read "Understanding HB1612- A Guide for New Hampshire Schools" written by Evan Clark, to get a better understanding of this bill.

Richard Pratt, Technology Administrator, and the tech team, has been working to compile a list of apps and extensions that are "vetted" or that meet the requirements set by HB1612. This is an arduous task. While this process is underway, there have been many questions about what apps are allowed for students?

Today, Steve Garvin, the Systems Administrator, created a section for students in the Chrome Web Store called "Apps for SAU16 Students"

The apps in this section are allowed for students to add, but not all are necessarily "vetted" as of today. The goal is to eventually have these apps and extensions all be vetted and accessible for students to see what is available to them.

As teachers/staff, you can see what students can add by going to the Chrome Web Store and looking at "Apps for Staff"(the apps/extensions in this tab are the apps students can use on their chromebooks). Currently, staff can add any extensions or apps to their chromebook.

The list of the apps will be changing as more are added, and some removed as we move toward being compliant with HB1612.
