Tip of the Week: Google Meet "Sticky Settings"!
If you have been using Google Meet, then this new Google Workspace feature will make you happy! Google just started rolling out this feature on December 09, 2020 (and it JUST started working for me this afternoon).
Below are the settings that will now "stick" (or stay as you selected them to be off or on, when you rejoin) AS LONG AS YOU USE THE SAME MEETING (by code or nickname).
This change will apply to these settings:
- Quick access - if you have this setting shut OFF, then it acts as a "waiting room".
- Prevent students from sharing their screen
- Prevent students from sending chat messages
How do you use this new feature?
Start by creating or opening a Google Meet. You can use a "nickname" or skip that. If you want the settings to stay the same for the next meeting, you will need to use the SAME meeting by code or nickname.
Once you select "Settings" then choose "Host Controls".
Rollout pace
- Rapid and Scheduled Release domains: Full rollout (1–3 days for feature visibility) starting on December 9, 2020
