Tip of the Week: Shut off Google Chat while you are using Zoom or Meet.
Just recently a teacher I was speaking with pointed out that if you have Google Hangouts Chat on, if you are in a Zoom or Meet, the notifications could pop up for all to see. I thought this was a valid point, and so today I wanted to share with you how to mute or shut off your Google Chat notifications to avoid this happening to you!
How can I avoid my chat from popping up during a Zoom or Meet?
There is a simple way to avoid this from happening. - Go to chat.google.com.
- In the upper left side of the screen click on "active" (see image below).
You can choose the "mute notifications" for a set time, or shut them off completely. To pick to mute for a set time, select 30 min, 1 hour, etc. (see below). To shut off notifications completely, choose "notification settings".- If you selected "notification settings" then you can choose to shut off notification settings for desktop, mobile, and email.
