Tip of the Week
:  Google Forms Quizzes Now Autosave!

Recently Google Forms FINALLY followed through with highly requested feature- to autosave Google Forms! Oh happy day!

You may or may not have known that in the past, if you created a Quiz with Google Forms, the work would not save until it was submitted. This caused a few unfortunate incidences of lost work. Some of these incidences happened when there was a wifi issue, if a student closed the lid of the chromebook (which automatically signs them out), or if the battery died or there was an issue on the chromebook. This was not good- especially in the situation of a quiz that was a summative (such as final or midterm).

How do Google Forms Quizzes save?

When you open up a Google Form or Google Form Quiz, you will see a small cloud in the upper right which indicates "cloud save".

Once you start typing or selecting choices, the cloud with change to show "Saving" (see below). Important: Google Forms auto save requires internet connection and will not work if offline.

Once the Form is saved, the responses will be saved for 30 days. To retrieve the responses you can go to Google Drive in recent, or click on the URL you used to open the Form.

In some cases, you may see that saving is disabled (there will be an exclamation point in the center of the arrows like you see to the left. If you see this icon, there are a few reasons that the owner of the form may have disabled autosaving. See Google's Support page for more information on why someone may disable autosaving.
