Back in September, Richard Pratt sent an email out to staff with a Google update stating we would be upgrading our SAU16 Google accounts to "Google Workspace for Education Plus". Over the next few weeks, using Tuesday Tidbits, I hope to share with you some of the new features that these upgraded licenses will bring to the Google applications.
This week I will start off by talking about the new features to Google Meet!
You will notice that there are some new features in Google Meet:
- Breakout Rooms!
- Create rooms and randomly add students to each room or "drag and drop" students into each breakout room.
- "Join" any of the breakout rooms to check in with students.
- Set a timer to end all breakout rooms
- Polls!
- Create a question to poll to your class.
- Show everyone the results or shut off that feature so they cannot see the results.
- The results are live and tally as they come in.
- An email will be sent with the polling information after the meeting ends!
- Q&A!
- This feature gives students an easy way to ask a question.
- You can show to the class; all questions, unanswered questions, answered questions, or hidden questions.
- An email will be sent with the Q&A information after the meeting ends!
- Whiteboarding!
- Whiteboard will open up Google's Jamboard and allow the class to collaborate in the same space.
- Apply Visual Effects to Background!
- No effect, slightly or fully blur your background
- Add a virtual background
